COPRI'S 16 Committees provide our members the opportunity to enhance their professional and technical development by working on a variety of products and services with other skilled professionals. Committee CornerCOPRI'S Coastal Zone Management Committee met on September 4, 2006, members of the committee are looking forward to the continued planning of the Solutions to Coastal Disasters Conference in 2008. The Committee met to discuss upcoming initiatives as well as to reflect upon their first year as a committee. Upcoming projects include development/presentation of sessions at the Restore America's Estuaries Conference this December in New Orleans. Members of the Information, Needs, Resources and Dissemination subcommittee discussed the development of the Wetlands & Sediment Management Resource Guide. The committee plans to continue their push towards new and improved policies, including continuing work on their Regional Sediment Management policy (COPRI PS 01). Members of the Coastal Engineering Practice Committee took advantage of the time at ICCE to hold and ad hoc meeting amongst their members in attendance. The group discussed their future plans and ideas, along with leadership succession. The committee will be working towards developing topics and abstracts for the Solutions to Coastal Disasters Conference in 2008. The Coastal Engineering Research Council (CERC) met throughout the week at the ICCE conference. The group who oversees the technical programming of the conference looked back on a successful conference and looks forward to the future conferences.
