About the Topic
The theme for the Deepwater Infrastructure Forum in 2005 is ?Challenges of the Cold Regions.? This meeting will focus on issues that affect design and construction of facilities in cold regions. These include design for ice conditions afloat and winterization with emphasis on human factors. Interactive discussion with the speakers will be emphasized.
About the Speaker
Chris Langley is currently a Project Manager with Shell E&P Projects in Houston. He is a chartered engineer in the UK with over 20 years experience in the E&P industry. He has worked on the design and execution phases of E&P facilities in many areas, including: S.E. Asia, the Middle East, deepwater US Gulf of Mexico (Auger, Na Kika) and most recently the Russian Arctic.
John Halkyard is Chief Technical Advisor for the Floating and Fixed Facilities Department for Technip USA, Inc. Dr. Halkyard is a Professional Engineer and has spent nearly 40 years helping to develop deep water systems. From 1971 - 1980 he led a development team for deep ocean mining of manganese nodules for Kennecott Copper Corporation. In the 1980s he served as Vice President of Arctec Offshore Corporation, a leading organization for offshore and arctic research. From 1999 to the present he has been active in the development of the Spar concept for drilling and production. He will talk about current work on the application of Spar concepts for drilling and production is deep, arctic environments, specifically in the Barents Sea in Russia and the Orphan Basin in Canada.
